Park City Center in Lancaster PA represents an experiment in the conversion of a conventional suburban shopping center to a traditional walkable mixed use village or town center format. The process of design makes use of geometric concepts such as the Golden Mean in a manner similar to the process use for the original layout of Washington DC. The program for the 150- acre site includes 1500 residential units, 1.4 million square feet of retail, office, and light industrial uses, 20 acres of open and recreational space, and . The four existing “big box” retail buildings are re-imagined as classic mixed use galleries, updated to include green roofs and other elements of sustainable infrastructure.
Armory Square, Prince Frederick MD
An infill project on a 90- acre former school site. The program for the town center was developed out of a 6- day public charrette including a visual preference survey, and includes 500 residential units, 400,000 square feet of retail and office space, a preserved stream corridor, and the adaptive re-use of the historic National Guard Armory. The project is within walking distance of a high school, hospital, and county courthouse.
Pickett Property, DeFuniak Springs FL
Located on the Florida Panhandle, the program for this 1,400 acre site is centered on a new conference and retreat facilities for the Chautauqua Center. A variety of residential types are included across 1,000 units, and 100,000 square feet of commercial space are included. Approximately 1,040 acres of open space emphasizes organic food production. Additionally, 150 acres of industrial space includes a solar electric facility and organic food processing center.
